For more than three years, I had the precious responsibility of caring for a beloved family member living with Alzheimer’s disease. This experience taught me how to be gentle, attentive, understanding, and deeply compassionate toward the elderly. I learned that care is not just about helping with daily needs — it is about listening, showing respect, offering companionship, and making someone feel truly valued and loved.
I have completed my Caregiving NC II certification, where I learned proper patient care, safety procedures, first aid, and basic health care techniques. I also finished training in Basic Life Support and First Aid, so I know how to respond calmly in emergency situations. I have taken additional short courses focused on elderly care, including understanding dementia, safe mobility assistance, and how to communicate gently and effectively with seniors.
In my daily care experience, I assisted with personal hygiene, prepared nutritious meals, managed medication schedules, helped with mobility, and created a safe, peaceful home environment. I also accompanied my family member to medical appointments and kept them engaged with simple, comforting activities.
